The Lord's work will go forth.

I have been somewhat bothered by the results of the election and the issue of same-sex marriage. I have been thinking about it a lot lately and what kind of a world my kids are going to grow up in and I was reading about Joseph Smith this morning and a quote by him that gives me a lot of comfort is:

“The Standard of Truth has been erected; no unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing; persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent, till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done.”

No one can stop the Lord's work and I know that if we follow President Monson and do everything that we are supposed to do, we will be blessed. The example will be set for our children and they will know what road to take when the time comes and they are faced with their potentially life altering trials.

I am right there with ya! I just can't believe it. However, someday there will be an ending to all this mess and what is suppose to happen will. I have to remember that sometimes this is part of the Lords plan. It is just so hard because we have kids going through this and it makes it super scary. Thanks for your post. It brings me comfort too.

When I think about the world being in such a turmoil I always remember how positive President Hinckley was about the future. He reassured us that there would be joy and happiness in our families even though the world was digressing in a different direction - and I know he is correct in that message. Hang in there and concentrate on the joy your family brings you.
